Excavation

Excavation in Traverse City: pool removal, septic tanks and site work

Poolside digs for every pool and spa it installs, and takes on pool removal, septic tanks, basements, roads, sewers, demolition, lot clearing and snow removal.

Every pool starts as a hole, and we dig it

Before a fiberglass shell is lifted off a truck or a vinyl pool goes in or a concrete pool is formed, someone has to open the ground. At Poolside that someone is us. When Poolside installs a pool, complete excavation and total property preparation are part of the job, not something you line up with a second contractor and hope the schedules meet.

The hole has to be the right size, the right depth and dead level before anything goes into it. A shell set into a badly cut excavation never sits right, and everything built on top of it inherits the problem.

Spa installs follow the same order. Poolside handles the excavation and the preparation first, then the installation. Digging, setting and filling under one roof is the reason the sequence holds together, and it is the same reason the phone number on this page reaches the people who will actually be on your property.

Taking a pool out, or putting a septic tank in

Poolside's excavation service is described on its own page in one line: remove an existing pool or install a septic tank. Those are two very different jobs that share one skill, which is knowing what is underneath the surface before the bucket goes in.

Pool removal depends heavily on what you have. A vinyl liner pool, a fiberglass shell and a poured concrete pool are three different things to take out of the ground, and the right approach for one is wrong for another. That is why the conversation starts with a look at your pool and your yard rather than a flat promise from a phone call.

A septic tank is the opposite problem: a new hole for something that has to sit in the ground for good. It needs a site that was chosen and prepared with care, and the same crew that digs for pools digs for it. If you are not sure which of the two jobs you are facing, or whether your lot needs both, call (231) 943-7061 and talk it through.

Basements, roads, sewers and the rest of the lot

The excavation list goes well past pools. Poolside takes on septic tanks, basements, roads, sewers, demolition, lot clearing and snow removal. That is a long list for a pool company, and it makes sense once you see it: all of it is ground work, and the pool business is built on doing ground work properly.

Lot clearing and demolition are the quiet first steps on a lot that is not ready for anything yet. A dug basement or a trenched sewer line is the same kind of precision work as a pool excavation, just pointed at a different structure. And snow removal keeps a drive or a lot open in a part of Michigan where winter is a real part of the year.

If your project mixes several of these, say a cleared lot, a septic tank and a pool to come later, mention all of it on the first call. Reviewers describe Poolside as professional and thorough, and a complete picture of the lot is how a thorough team plans the work in the right order.

Excavation is one piece of how Poolside works. The same crew that opens the ground also sets the pool, fills it and builds around it, so the pages below are the rest of the sequence.
